For these final months of the year (boy, how time flies!) I created some cards using the Time to Flourish collection by Graphic 45. This collection is the perfect seasonal collection, with a special focus on all things floral.
I already created some cards earlier in the year, there was May, including Mother’s Day, and fairly recently I showed you two versions of August birthday cards.
This time it’s the fall, and even one Christmas card.

Recently I showed you my new double-stacked mini album designCelebrate Every Day. On one of its last two pages there’s a special page ornament, a napkin fold origami piece.
Today I’m happy to teach you how to create this piece, and use it as a card instead of a mini album page ornament – so there’s an extra option for you! It’s a free video tutorial, so you can go ahead and create it along with me. 🙂
Here’s the paper supplies you’ll need:
1 piece of cardstock of 30.5 x 30.5 cm (12×12″), or A4-sized (8⅓ x 11¾”)
1 sheet of design paper of 20.3 x 20.3 cm (8×8″)
2 sheets of design paper of 15.2 x 15.2 cm (6×6″)
Distress ink
Sentiment stamp (or birthday stamp, or…)
The entire card could probably be made in about 1 hour; 2 if you’re taking your time to be meticulous and precise 😉
If you’re going to use it as a card, you can simply create a belly band for it. If you wish to create it as a mini album page ornament, you’ll find instructions on how to create the magnetized closure for it in the mini album tutorial in my Etsy shop.

It’s always super fun to design new mini albums! This time, I created an album with two sets of pages, one above the other. Hence, a double-stacked mini album😉 . Almost all pages offer new page designs that I haven’t used in my previous albums.
There are six page assemblies, three above, three below, which together offer twelve interactive page layouts plus some large photo mats. The large front and back covers make up their own interactive pages, twice as large as the regular ones. The album has a magnetized closure and is crisp and clean on the outside, so it will easily fit into your book case.
I found that this design is perfect to create a large album with 6×6 inch papers and only a handful of 12×12 inch sheets. This makes it a lot more cost effective than an album with lots of large pages. The relatively wide spine offers ample room for you to embellish on the inside.
On its last two pages I used some special-folded paper ornaments. Both are covered in the downloadable written tutorial in my shop. For one of them I also made a free video tutorial, which will be available next week in a new blog post.
For this particular album I used the Optimist collection by Prima Marketing, including their sticky tabs, ATC cards, flowers, leaflets and brads.

Sometimes you don’t have grand words or elaborate messages to share, you just want to say something important to someone. Like Thank You, or some other word of encouragment.
Then an ATC type card might be a great tip for you crafters: they are easy to make, don’t take up lots of time and materials, and they still look awesome!
When you make these for the men in your life you’ll probably feel somewhat limited as to choice of colors and embellishments. Fortunately I found some papers that are not the standard ‘manly’ black, white & grey or navy blue. They are Pyrus and Oxford, bothby Basic Grey, if you just throw in some screw brads you’re good to go! 🙂
Anyway, I’m gladly sharing the inspiration with you all today. First is a word of encouragement for a colleague of mine. Created with the Pyrus paper collection:

The Time to Flourish collection by Graphic 45 is really versatile. You could do a calendar of course, a mini album, or special greeting cards to send your friends and family actual month-based well-wishes. Back in May I created a birthday card and a Mother’s Day card, and today I’m happy to share with you two summer birthday cards, this time for the month of August.
One is a double layout card, the other an extra large card which measures an actual 8×8″ (20 x 20 cm)! I used a lot of layering with the design paper, cutaparts, chipboard pieces, die-cut flowers and some embellisments, mostly from the Time to Flourish collection.
Fairly recently I added a sweet little paper pad to my (ever-growing) stash. It was the Spring Collection by what I think is a new Dutch brand, called Precious Marieke. It has lovely shades of purple and lavender, lots of florals and butterflies, and it really breathes spring or summer.
I decided to create an entire set of cards with this lovely paper line, and since I wanted to gift them to my friend for her birthday, I also needed a box to put them in.
So I upcycled the packaging of some scented candles. I painted it and matted it with the Precious Marieke design paper. And here’s what’s great: the enticing cinnamon scent of the candles was still clinging strongly to their former-packaging-now-gift-box!
So there you have it, a great tip to give someone an actual scented gift box! 🙂
By the way, creating a set of cards is also a great way to use an entire paper pad, without having to bother with leftovers you can’t get yourself to throw away but which are of no real use either 😉
As you may have noticed by now if you’ve been following this blog, I really like to design and create what I call micro projects, small but fully functional paper craft products, perfect for your handbag or as a small but very personal gift. And great to use up those gorgeous scraps in your stash you can’t get yourself to throw away… 🙂
This week I’d like to share a new micro design: a Micro Pocket Book! I really like how this has turned out, and by now I’ve already created two! They are 3½ x 2¾” (9 x 7 cm), sport a magnet closure with a ribbon pull, three little pages + some extra room for photos/journalling, and a nice little pocket to tuck away tiny treasures. It was great fun to create them, especially because a simple change in design paper resulted in a second pocket book with an entirely different look and feel from the first.
Papers used were Bo Bunny’s Country Gardenfor the one and some sheets by Fabscraps for the other.
I always love my papercraft, but sometimes – alas, not often enough – it’s extra special, when I feel like I’m just in the Zone! That mysterious place where I’m actually creating, you know – designing, coming up with someting I had never even thought of before.
Back in February of this year I came up with what I’m calling a folio album: a folio spread that folds into a nice & tidy mini album.
And today I’m very happy to share with you my folio album II – sort of a Sequel, a Second Edition, an extrapolation even 🙂 . This time I went all out, for when this baby is entirely open, it spans a whopping 42 inches! (over 1 meter!) which makes it much larger than the first edition (which itself wasn’t really small either).
And on top of that, when this folio album II is folded closed into a cute little mini album, its actually smaller than its predecessor, measuring a mere 5½ x 5½ inches (14 x 14 cm).
So I can honestly say it’s both larger and smallerthan my first design, which I really had to think hard about while creating it, but I had great fun designing it! 🙂
This time I used the gorgeously colorful, summer-romantic Secret Admirerpaper collection by Kaisercraft. This is a 2012 collection, but still timelessly beautiful and I enjoyed working with it. You may have some trouble getting it by now, but I think there might be some good news for you, for their latest 2015 summer collection Fly Freeshares a number of colors from the same pallette.

It took me a while to figure out what a certain category of cards with all these different mountain & valley folds was called, so I started out with calling them ‘special folds cards.’ (Yeah, I know.)
Anyway, as it turns out, they already had a name, for they are called step cards. This is the category of cards that has different kinds of, well, steps…
You can create them entirely by hand, or use a die. My first step card was created manually and I figured out all of the cuts and folds by myself, just by looking at a sample picture in Kaisercraft’s free Workshop magazine. It worked out great, but was a lot of work.
Today I’m sharing my second step card, a different kind this time. And this time I used a die (by Crealies) – which does make life a lot easier. 🙂
This particular card was for a wedding, which is why I’ve dubbed it Deeply Loved. I used Prima Marketing’s Almanac paper pad, plus the cutapart sheet from Kaisercraft’s On This Day collection. And added lots of cute decorations.

Hi guys, hope you’re enjoying your summer holidays, or at least some great weather if you’re still working!
Today I’m sharing with you a so-called chipboard mini album. This kind of album comes pre-made as far as its pages are concerned. It’s up to you to bind them and to decorate them however you please. I had never created such an album before so I was delighted to try my hand at it. It turned out to be great fun – the biggest challenge was actually to find the right sized album rings, which for some mysterious reason was more difficult than I could have imagined.
Anyway, enjoy the video and pictures below, hope you’ll find some inspiration to do your own chipboard minis! I dubbed mine Ageless Beauty, for it is about my ever glorious mom. 🙂
When one of my dear colleagues found a new job elsewhere, I wanted to say Thank you with a special card. I chose one of my previous designs, the Baby Girl card I showed you a couple of weeks ago, together with the four-fold photo board (go to time stamp 7:07).
This design has a magnetic closure on top of the card and it opens top down instead of sideways or bottom up. Inside are two pockets, one for your personalized messages, cards or tags, the other for a little gift. You could add a gift card in this type of card, but also a little sachet of flower seeds – as I have. Which is a great way of sending someone flowers when they are (or are going to be) far away. 🙂
The papers I used are by First Edition, from their Boho Chic 6×6 paper pad.
Part 4: Time to Flourish: July – December – posted here
I’ve created two calendars at once because one, the Place in Time calendar, is for my mother, the other for myself.
Now that I’ve finished both, I must say that although the calendars have been based on a layered layout principle, they weren’t so alike as they may seem at first glance. Not only are both calendars different in size – Place in Time is 12×12, Time to Flourish is 8×8 – but the design and atmosphere of each collection are so uniquely their own that they felt like two completely different projects to work on.
And I can’t make up my mind which I like best! Except maybe for size: in hindsight, I liked to work with the 12×12 cutaparts more – mainly because all of their gorgeous pictures were larger, and therefore more fully enjoyed. 🙂
