In this week’s video I’m sharing a nice quickscrapproject: a unicorn card, created without cardstock, using the wonderful Unicorn sheet from the Wonderland collection by Stamperia.
Also, a summer announcement: this summer I’n doing a four-part series called Scrap With Me, with four basic papercrafting technique tutorials, starting next week! 🙂
Napkin fold cards or origami fold cards are always the perfect creative card if you don’t have a lot of time. You can make this within the hour, which adds it to my quick scrap category 🙂
This week I’m sharing three tips with you for this type of card, variations you may not have tried yourself yet and which I hope will inspire you. So check out the video for those tips. Below that you’ll find my free video tutorial for napkin fold cards, which I hope will come in handy 😉
Here’s how to create these super practical booklets, by creating a signature and simply sewing it together with some colored string 🙂
You can make it a photo booklet by using double-sided design paper, or a note booklet by using white printer paper or lined writing paper on the inside, instead of decorative paper.
These are also great mini album inserts by the way, as you’ll see a little while from now, when I’ll be posting the Travel version of my Folders & Pockets album.
Hope this was helpful and you enjoyed the tutorial, let me know in the comment section what you think and if you have any questions!
Sometimes that accessory you buy comes in a small jewelry box. My recent such purchase sported the name of the shop on its lid, but apart from that the box had a very nice antique bronze color, which inspired me to re-use it as a gift box.
So I thought I’d share this idea with you today, for this is the perfect little quick scrap gift idea, which you can finish in about 15 minutes (tops). Simply alter the lid, covering the shop’s name or logo, by decorating it with some design paper, a brad, and some embellishments.
It’s very easy to do, it’ll cost you hardly any time at all, and you’ll have a uniquely customized gift box for your present. 🙂
Here’s a quick little gift idea: buy a nice little colorless tealight glass, and color it with two or more colors of alcohol ink. Add some extra decorations with wax paint and an art stencil, and you’re ready to go.
I think this took me less than 1 hour to make, including drying time 🙂
Today I’m sharing with you another Low Budget Tip, in other words how to create wonderful projects and presents that won’t cause a significant dent into your household budget. 🙂
There’s more where this came from by the way, check out all posts on this blog tagged Low budget!
This week’s tip is to create a picture card. For this type of card you won’t need much design paper for on the front the focus will be a picture you took (any occasion possible!), and on the back you will simply use cardstock or even printer paper of a different color than your base card.
You can keep the embellishments to a minimum by only using some glitter glue to trace around the picture and/or the journalling spot on the back, or you can add some simple decorations as I have, which still won’t have to cost a lot – especially if you’d die-cut the flowers and leaves.
So I hope you’ll enjoy this tip, let me know if you’d like to see more!
Creating mini albums can be quite a lot of work, demanding precision, dedication and, above all, time. Which is why I decided to go the other way this time, and set out to create what I wanted to be the easiest mini albums ever made, while still deserving of the name mini album. I wanted to be able to finish them within 2-3 hours, while not needing a lot of materials and tools. Also, they needed to be able to hold a reasonable amount of pictures.
Today I’m sharing the results of my experiment – which were a success for these mini albums are in fact so simple that no tutorial is required! The only things you need are the materials and some tools:
double-sided design paper
very light-weight chipboard (or heavy cardstock)
paper trimmer
wire binding tool like the Cinch or the Bind-It-All.
The largest of the albums will hold up to 68 pictures, the smaller one about 25.
Just watch the video and you’ll immediately know what to do to make these 🙂 Have fun!
This December month I’ll post many projects on my blog, to give you some inspiration and ideas for your Christmas projects – and also to help you spend your holiday time creatively. In my previous post I showed you a quick Christmas Mini Album. Today: Part 2 of this December Deluge of creative ideas 🙂
There’s a particular 1-sheet mini photo wallet of which I’ve created several by now. It’s created from only one sheet of double-sided 12×12″ design paper, and it looks something like this:
If you click on the picture, it will link to my free video tutorial for that kind of mini wallet.
This week I’m showing you a new micro version of this design, created with a 6×6″ sheet of paper! So cute! They measure only 2â…œ” (6 cm) and can hold little pictures, or you could write little notelets with personalized messages, as I have.
These are quick to make and would make great alternatives for your standard Christmas present tags 🙂
SInce it’s almost Thanksgiving (which we don’t celebrate in the Netherlands, but still 😉 ) I’m sharing a Thank You project with you all today.
If you’re in need of a way of showing your gratitude to someone, why not create a personalized little card?
For instance, recently I changed departments so I said goodbye to some colleagues. I made them each a unique and personalized Thank You notelet. I worked with four different paper collections: Mariposa (DCWV), Craftsman (Prima), A Proper Gentleman (Graphic 45) and Spring (Precious Marieke).
Needless to say my colleagues really enjoyed them 🙂 Hope you find this idea inspiring and create lots of them yourselves! 🙂
Enjoy the video and stay crafty, see you next week!
Two masculine-themed cardlets for the guys in my team:
What’s fascinating about the Oxford collection by Basic Grey is that while at first glance it has a mostly masculine feel, when you take a closer look some of the sheets are of a more feminine persuasion as well!
So this time I used it to create a little project for myself, instead of a male friend or relative 🙂 . This micro folio is perfectly suited to carry your most current & precious pictures with you in your handbag. You could also turn it into a micro portfolio representing your most important projects – like I have. It’s small, flat, magnetized and offers room for at least 11 pictures!
It’s also very easy to make, as you can see in the video.
So enjoy, and let me know for which kind of photos you would love to create a micro folio!
Recently I showed you my new double-stacked mini album design Celebrate Every Day. On one of its last two pages there’s a special page ornament, a napkin fold origami piece.
Today I’m happy to teach you how to create this piece, and use it as a card instead of a mini album page ornament – so there’s an extra option for you! It’s a free video tutorial, so you can go ahead and create it along with me. 🙂
Here’s the paper supplies you’ll need:
1 piece of cardstock of 30.5 x 30.5 cm (12×12″), or A4-sized (8â…“ x 11¾”)
1 sheet of design paper of 20.3 x 20.3 cm (8×8″)
2 sheets of design paper of 15.2 x 15.2 cm (6×6″)
Distress ink
Sentiment stamp (or birthday stamp, or…)
The entire card could probably be made in about 1 hour; 2 if you’re taking your time to be meticulous and precise 😉
If you’re going to use it as a card, you can simply create a belly band for it. If you wish to create it as a mini album page ornament, you’ll find instructions on how to create the magnetized closure for it in the mini album tutorial in my Etsy shop.
Enjoy creating and let me know if you made one yourself!
And don’t forget to like, subscribe and check out the pictures below the video – feel free to share them on Pinterest 🙂
Sometimes you don’t have grand words or elaborate messages to share, you just want to say something important to someone. Like Thank You, or some other word of encouragment.
Then an ATC type card might be a great tip for you crafters: they are easy to make, don’t take up lots of time and materials, and they still look awesome!
When you make these for the men in your life you’ll probably feel somewhat limited as to choice of colors and embellishments. Fortunately I found some papers that are not the standard ‘manly’ black, white & grey or navy blue. They are Pyrus and Oxford, both by Basic Grey, if you just throw in some screw brads you’re good to go! 🙂
Anyway, I’m gladly sharing the inspiration with you all today. First is a word of encouragement for a colleague of mine. Created with the Pyrus paper collection:
The second is a Thank You note for my uncle, with the Oxford collection, also by Basic Grey:
Enjoy the video & pics! And stay tuned for next week, when there’ll be an all new design mini album to share again! 🙂
