Coffee Tray Altered to Photo Tray

When I found a little gray-painted coffee tray in one of our local home decor stores, I decided it would be perfect for the Stationer’s Desk collection by Prima Marketing. With a lovely summer picture of my mom and dad during their Rome holiday, this collection combined just the right amounts of nostalgia and vintange romance.

Placed upright, any such tray can be turned into the perfect picture frame, adding unique shadow box qualities to what would normally be much more straight-forward and flat. It was great to be able to use up all of my larger flowers of the collection, and because of the many embellishments this project was also perfect for using up some of the scraps I had left over from the paper pad.

Another great advantage was that the tray’s gray color already coordinated perfectly with the papers, so I didn’t have to paint it myself.

All in all a very fun project to do if you’re looking forward to paper crafting but are not in the mood for creating a card or a mini album!

Laugh Love Forever – a Ma Cherie Butterflies Layout

Hello everyone!

This week I’m sharing a layout with you, for which I chose the beautiful Ma Cherie collection by Kaisercraft – with its soft burgundy color scheme, full of lovely florals. Of this collection, the Exquisite sheet, covered in absolutely gorgeous butterflies, simply demanded to be fussy-cut – even though that’s not my favorite thing to do.

The layout is centered around my mother, who as an Autumn Type was the perfect subject for this project since she can really rock an ocre jacket like no one else, especially when standing next to her own Burgundy & Gold acryllic painting 🙂

Materials used:

  • Kaisercraft Ma Cherie paper collection, 12×12 sheets: Darling, Exquisite and Glamour
  • Kaisercraft Ma Cherie Collectables die-cuts
  • Kaisercraft paper blooms (Ruby)
  • Kaisercraft flowers (Sepia)
  • Kaisercraft clear stamp Scallop Lace
  • Petaloo Penny Lane Garden collection, Mixed Blossoms – Antique Rose
  • Bo Bunny clear stamp Curly Q

Enjoy the show & tell video – and don’t forget to check out the lovely close up pictures below!

Layout in Altered Frame: Your Guiding Hand (about my dad)

Here’s my very first framed layout, which I created in memory of my father. In this season of Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for who he was all through my life.

I bought an Artemio 12×12 scrapbook frame, glued one of Bo Bunny’s gorgeous Autumn Song design paper sheets to its back, and got to work. I used several extras of the collection, like brads, pearl & bling stickers, trinkets, die-cuts, chipboard stickers etc. I also used some flowers from my stash, and a lot of cute autumn decorative pieces that I found in one of our home & garden shops.

I took care to include things my father loved: a sparrow, a bird’s nest, several butterflies, a cute little cartoonesk squirrel, flowers and lots of bright and warm colors.

The picture is very special to me, for it’s kind of a family moment even though it’s just my father. For my father and I were sitting outside, having some quality time while drinking a cup of coffee at one of the lunch rooms in the city I live in, and when I took this picture he was on the phone with my mom. So in a sense, we were all together, the three of us 🙂

Enjoy the video!
