Here’s a fun idea for a New Home (or Welcome Home) card: send them a cute little home decor piece, by way of a 3D house which also functions as a tea light holder! š
I’m sharing a video tutorial below, but first a photo tutorial with the steps to create this project. I used a die from AliExpress, but you could of course also imitate this by drawing a row of four houses yourself and fussy-cutting them.
This year’s Mother’s Day is kinda strange – with the corona lockdown situation and all – so even if you never send out any Mother’s Day cards, this year you will have to make an exception! Never have our mothers deserved some encouragement with a beautiful card more than now – so come on, get your craft on and make her this fun card.
What I’m sharing with you this week is a variant of the box card. It’s slightly different from the regular box cards, the same basic technique but still some new crafty tricks are required – which will offer a nice new challenge. And because it’s Mother’s Day during these lockdown times, I’m offering this special variant guide for free, as a bonus with my Box Card tutorial #26!
You can find my box card tutorial – including the free bonus cutting guide & instructions for this variant! – in my shop, it’s already waiting for you. Think about all those lovely papers in your stack; you know, the ones your mother told you she loved. And you only need 1 sheet of cardstock to make this anyway. So what’s the big deal, just go ahead and check it out. You know you want to š .
Well, the title is already teasing it: I’ll be expanding on my creative adventures – by designing my own patterned paper templatesĀ and offering them as downloadable printables! š
What that means is that I’m experimenting with digital scrapbooking and graphic design, to come up with my own project templates. And I’m starting off with not one butĀ two Box cardĀ Printables!
Now these are not templates in the sense of having visible cutting & scoring lines or some such. The reason I’m calling it a box card patterned paper template is that you will not need any (!) cardstock to create your box card, because I came up with a double-sided design paper that will work perfectly with the cuts and folds of any box card.
Note that it will take at least medium level paper crafters for the printable to work without a tutorial. Therefore I have added a bonus tutorial and a bonus cutting guide to my regular Box Card Tutorial (#26), specifically for these printable patterned paper templates. Those of you who have already purchased this tutorial are in luck, for they will be able to download the extra guidesĀ at no additional cost! š
I’m calling my new box card patterned paper templateĀ Flowers & Wine.Ā It’s an original design and available in my shop now, for a very small price. You can print it as many times as you like, provided you do so for your own personal use or gift giving. AND as a bonus, you’ll get a freebie!*Ā For there’s a secondĀ printable available with the first, enabling you to make TWO beautiful box cards for the price of ONE!
Simply check out theĀ PrintablesĀ section in my shop.
So, check out the video below and please do let me know what you think! Is this something you would like to see more of?
* I created theĀ freebieĀ printableĀ with elements from the Bring on SummerĀ digital collection by Savi by Design.
A superfun type of card is the so-calledĀ Box Card.Ā Its design has been around for quite some time I think, and I don’t know who originally came up with it. This kind of card looks like a box but behaves like a card, in that it is made from cardstock and fits perfectly into an envelope!
By the way, it’s in no way comparable to a so-calledĀ explosion box,Ā of which you can view some examples here.
Using the richly coloredĀ Fly Free paper collection byĀ Kaisercraft,Ā I created two: one as a birthday card, the other as a New Baby card. If you like die-cutting, fussy-cutting and overall embellishing, this is an absolute Must Try for you! š To help you along check out my very affordableĀ Tutorial #26, containing easy-to-follow instructions with 69 very clear pictures, which you can acquire here.
Have fun watching the video and do let me know what kind of box cards you would like to see, or for which occasions you have created one yourself! š
