Relishing in my fandom of design paper collection kits

Today I thought I’d share a How To video of the most recent of my (very) rare layouts. I’m not your typical mixed media artist (I wish I were, but alas…); instead I’m a design paper collection kit fan girl and I enjoy having everything come together just so, showcasing the colors and materials.

To show you how my creative process works, I cut together a process video for you, which of course I sped up extremely, to bring hours back to minutes. The collection I used was Butterfly by Prima Marketing, and the layout centers around two shabby chic ballet pictures that I printed from my Ballet Pinterest board. This is what Scrapbooking really is all about 👌🏽

So enjoy the video, I hope to inspire you with a different way of working on layouts – namely relishing in your fandom of your design paper collection kits! 🙂

And if you really want to go all out, then give your layout a plain wooden frame and paint & spray ink that in coordinating colors 🙂

 

 

Two Butterfly Cards with Kaisercraft’s Ma Cherie

The soft burgundy’s of Kaisercraft’s Ma Cherie collection have held me captivated for a while; after having created a dimensional layout and a mini layout, I still wasn’t ‘done’ with the fussy-cutting of butterflies and the layering of die-cuts from the collection. I even wanted to use the leftover scraps, for this paper was gorgeous!

So, even though I never owned the complete paper collection, all of the separate papers I did gather were enough to add two more cards before I had reached this paper’s End-of-Stash.

Both sport one or more dimensional fussy-cut butterflies of course. A tip to get their wings to stay up, is to use hot glue instead of normal wet glue or tape. The hot glue causes some tension in the paper which helps the wings to stay up (after you gently folded them up).

Explosion of Joy – a springtime explosion box

Don’t you love spring? The days are finally lengthening again, birds are coaxing potential mates to their side by singing to their hearts’ content, early flowers are blooming in happy colors and the sun is already tentatively testing the strength of it’s rays. I think God designed springtime to be an awesome reminder for us that their’s always New Life waiting for us after a period of death – no matter how long the winter in your heart may have lasted.

An explosion box is therefore an especially fitting springtime project: it’s literally an Explosion of Joy!  🙂

Walking you through these lovely design & specialty paper stacks by K&Company.

To save some time and – hopefully – keep it interesting, I fast-forwarded several video segments. Although this did indeed speed up the process, it also seems to have increased some of the instability in the video – My apologies!

Opnieuw een gezellige papierdemo, zodat je beter kunt inschatten of je het wilt hebben 😉

Excuses voor het hier en daar onrustige beeld – om toon en tempo vlot te houden heb ik sommige stukken permanent vooruitgespoeld; pas na afmonteren zag ik dat het beeld daardoor ook instabieler werd.
