Joyful Reminiscing – a Keepsake Album XL

When I published the video for my Treasured Memory Keepsake Album XL, I got several requests for a tutorial. It took me some time to get around to it, but this summer I took advantage of my time off of work, and created another Keepsake Album XL of the exact same design, in order to write a tutorial.

It’s turned into a large tutorial for a large album :-), sporting 181 pages and a whopping 479 clear pictures to guide you through the step by step process! It will probably not be a “quick project” for you, which of course makes it ideal for the rainy Sunday afternoons that will probably soon dominate our upcoming fall weather.

So, without much further ado, I happily present to you my Joyful Reminiscing Keepsake Album XL, created with the beautiful Coral Couture paper collection by DCWV! 🙂

Be Your Creative Self – an 8×8″ Page Gatefold Keepsake Album

Hi you all!

I’m so happy to be able to share my latest mini album design! It’s an 8½ x 8½” (22 x 22 cm) gatefold keepsake album, which I’ve titled Be Your Creative Self –  which sentiment is totally inspired by the paper collection I’ve been working with: World’s Fair, the glorious 2015 collection by Graphic 45.

This is a luxurious gatefold keepsake album, a square one this time – the others have all been in portrait mode. Its pages are a little bit larger than 8×8″, so that you can work with those great 8×8″ design paper pads.

This Be Your Creative Self album contains twelve interactive page layouts, including the inside covers. It has a magnetized closure and has a very crisp and clean cover, no embellishments at all, to really showcase this magnificent paper line.

It was a heck of a job to get it done, but soooo, so much fun! If you’d like to create this great album yourself, a tutorial is available on Etsy, with over 400 clear pictures of the step-by-step process!

Enjoy the video and pictures below, and let me know what you think in the comment section!

Keepsake Album Reprised: Mariposa 2nd Edition

A lady from India asked me to create a second version of my Butterflies & Stars Keepsake Album Deluxe – thank you Ayushi, it was a great project to recreate! 🙂

I didn’t have the stars papers anymore, so I had to make some adjustments and turned this second edition into a 100% Butterflies version.

Two years after creating the first edition of this album, I’m still amazed at how gorgeous DCWV’s Mariposa paper collection is, and its high quality papers are a dream to work with (once you get over cutting into them 😉 )!

If you like this kind of album, check out my other keepsake albums as well! And in case you’d like to create one yourself, a tutorial for a similar kind of album (except for a slightly different page design) is available in my Etsy shop.

Springtime Dreams Keepsake Album Deluxe

When I first created my Butterflies & Stars Keepsake Album Deluxe back in the fall of 2013, I had no idea it would become quite the scrapbooking hit on Youtube – as per today, it has gotten nearly 460,000 views and the number is still growing! Wow!

Unfortunately I have no explanation for this, since I have not been able to repeat these results… Its sister albums Flora & Fauna, Fairytale Treasures and Country Garden all had their shares of views, and so did my other projects, but none of them ever came anywhere near that unique number. I guess Youtube moves in mysterious ways… Oh well…

Anyway, I received (and am still receiving) a lot of requests for a tutorial on this type of album, this ‘double-spined’ gatefold-like type of album that I’ve dubbed Keepsake Album Deluxe.

And I have some great news for all of those lovely people: I’ve now been able to create this tutorial, and it is huge! It sports 132 pages with 418 pictures!
And it’s available to you now as a digital download in my Etsy shop.

To write a tutorial I of course had to create the project, for I had to take pictures of every step of the process. So here’s the latest edition of my Keepsake Album Deluxe, created using Webster’s Pages’ Nest collection, and I’m calling it Springtime Dreams. 🙂

Enjoy the video and let me know what you think!

Country Garden Gatefold Keepsake Album Deluxe

So, here’s my latest gatefold Keepsake Album De Luxe, and a pretty large one: about 8,5 x 11 inches, which is almost A4. It was commissioned by a lady who had asked me to incorporate some pictures of her dogs, which gives me the opportunity to show you some “complete layouts”, i.e. at least some of the pages and tags have photographs – plus embellishments.

The paperline is Country Garden by Bo Bunny, a somewhat older design stack but timeless and a very pretty summer line!

If you’d like to create an album like this yourself, check out the tutorial for my Springtime Dreams Keepsake Album, for it has the same basic design!

Fairytale Treasures keepsake album deluxe

Every 1-2 months or so I work on a “big” project like a minialbum or some other project that takes a lot of effort, like an explosion box or some complex altering project. I wish I could do more of them, but they take a lot of time to create! For instance, a deluxe album like the project I’m showing you below, takes me at least 3-4 weeks to create – I do work a fulltime job and have a household to run as well, you know 😉

Therefore I’m very pleased to present to you my latest keepsake album deluxeFairytale Treasures!

It takes after my Butterflies & Stars keepsake album, as well as my Flora & Fauna version. This time I used DCWV’s gorgeous Once Upon a Time II design paper, and inked around all the edges with Tea Dye distress ink by Tim Holtz.

It’s customized to order, for it was commissioned by my friend Nicole, who wanted her beloved terriers “incorporated” in the album 🙂 So, among other things, I did some photo editing to create a custom Once Upon a Time background – which is great to do for any picture you want to “blend in” with your mini album or your scrapbook page layout.

Above: One of Nicole’s terriers, a cute Westie. I hid it in the booklet on the first real mini album page in the album, the one tied closed with the gold-colored strings, also shown on the video thumbnail.

If you’d like to create an album like this yourself, check out the tutorial for my Springtime Dreams Keepsake Album, for it has the same basic page design.

But enough with the chit-chat: on to the video! Enjoy!

Please don’t forget to like & subscribe, see you next week!

Flora and Fauna gatefold keepsake album deluxe

When my mother saw the Butterflies & Stars keepsake album I had recently designed for a friend, she immediately commissioned one herself, as a present for her cousin. There are some differences between the two albums though. For instance, this Flora and Fauna album is somewhat larger than its predecessor; the designs of both its base pages and its cover pieces are different as well.

All in all it took 21 sheets of A4 cardstock for the construction of the pages and tags and about 23 sheets of double-sided design paper (12×12 inches). For the cover I took two 12×12 inch pieces of cardboard, created five unique pieces and arranged them just so.

Two pieces of linen bookcloth strengthen the folds of both spines. The magnets I used for the closure are by Basic Grey, they’re absolutely the strongest crafting magnets I could find!

My mother’s cousin is a dear 80-year-old who loves her garden and everything in it, so my mother wanted somewhat of a “garden theme with little birds and bees and butterflies”.

Fortunately K&Company’s gorgeous Flora and Fauna design paper was already eagerly awaiting me in my stash, begging me to be used – and the very pale lavender color of the cardstock turned out to be the perfect combination. I also used some of the matching embellishments and design elements that go along with this paper – which I’ll show you in de video.

Anyway, long story short, the keepsake album turned out rather beautifully and I’m more than happy with it myself. If you’d like to create an album like this yourself, check out the tutorial for my Springtime Dreams Keepsake Album, for it has the same basic page design!

Now, on to the video, and the pictures below!

Commemorative keepsake album “Butterflies & Stars”

My friend commissioned a mini album and she wanted something special, a true keepsake, easy to put between other books (so no dimensional embellishments and extra protection for the pages) and last but not least: incorporate a two-fold theme of butterflies and stars (for personal reasons).

Some commission! 🙂 So, I came up with a new design, taking a little bit of inspiration from both Kathy Orta and a lady calling herself Angelwings14100 on Youtube. Of course I personalized it, creating a unique design by adding my own style, interpretation and of course some original design elements.

Above: One of my original design elements; I created a charm element that incorporated both my usual little Handmade token and the the dual theme of the album, in this case Butterflies & Stars

Here’s the Show & Tell video of my Keepsake album:

And here’s the links to the inspiration videos I mentioned:

Looking forward to you letting me know what you think!
