Adorable Altered Wooden Jewelry Gift Box

A little altered treasure chest can be a cute gift in an of itself, but turning it into a jewelry gift box will add a lot of interest!

This micro treasure chest measures 6 x 4 x 4 cm (2⅜ x 1½ x 1½”). I painted it inside and outside (always remove the hinges & closure pieces first), then decorated it with Stationer’s Desk design paper by Prima Marketing plus some flowers.

Then I folded a piece of design paper to hold a pair of earrings – which is removable so the micro chest can be reused.

So, it’s all very simple to do – but what an amazing gift this makes! Think birthdays, weddings, graduations, Mother’s Day, and of course Christmas 🙂

Double-Stacked Mini Album (new!): Celebrate Every Day

It’s always super fun to design new mini albums! This time, I created an album with two sets of pages, one above the other. Hence, a double-stacked mini album 😉 . Almost all pages offer new page designs that I haven’t used in my previous albums.

There are six page assemblies, three above, three below, which together offer twelve interactive page layouts plus some large photo mats. The large front and back covers make up their own interactive pages, twice as large as the regular ones. The album has a magnetized closure and is crisp and clean on the outside, so it will easily fit into your book case.

I found that this design is perfect to create a large album with 6×6 inch papers and only a handful of 12×12 inch sheets. This makes it a lot more cost effective than an album with lots of large pages. The relatively wide spine offers ample room for you to embellish on the inside.

On its last two pages I used some special-folded paper ornaments. Both are covered in the downloadable written tutorial in my shop. For one of them I also made a free video tutorial, which will be available next week in a new blog post.

For this particular album I used the Optimist collection by Prima Marketing, including their sticky tabs, ATC cards, flowers, leaflets and brads.

Deeply Loved – a Step Card

It took me a while to figure out what a certain category of cards with all these different mountain & valley folds was called, so I started out with calling them ‘special folds cards.’ (Yeah, I know.)

Anyway, as it turns out, they already had a name, for they are called step cards. This is the category of cards that has different kinds of, well, steps…

You can create them entirely by hand, or use a die. My first step card was created manually and I figured out all of the cuts and folds by myself, just by looking at a sample picture in Kaisercraft’s free Workshop magazine. It worked out great, but was a lot of work.

Today I’m sharing my second step card, a different kind this time. And this time I used a die (by Crealies) – which does make life a lot easier. 🙂

This particular card was for a wedding, which is why I’ve dubbed it Deeply Loved. I used Prima Marketing’s Almanac paper pad, plus the cutapart sheet from Kaisercraft’s On This Day collection. And added lots of cute decorations.

Awesomeness: 1-sheet Interactive Card!

Sometimes you want to send someone an awesome card, but you don’t have the time to spend hours and hours of creating. That is why I love my quick scrap projects!

I designed this card from only 1 sheet of doublesided 12×12″ (30,5×30,5 cm) design paper, with just a couple of folds and cuts. I also added some cardstock for the tags, and a few little embellishments. This design helps you to create a luxurious, interactive card within less than 60 minutes of creating!

It also enables you to use up those single sheets of double-sided design paper you might still have left over from other projects.

Or, in my case, the design lets me indulge myself in just buying single sheets that really stand out from their collections, without having to buy the entire collections and all that goes with them 🙂

Princess Paper Bag Mini Album

I created this paper bag album with Prima’s soft-colored, romantic Princess design paper. I added several Prima flowers from the Princess collection and others, did some die-cutting and used a cutapart sheet from the Delight collection, also by Prima. The one you see on the front of the album (see picture) I printed myself, choosing the sentiment, the font and font color and size. So you don’t need a stamp to add some sentiments, printing is a fine and very versatile alternative! (Tip!)

Of course there’s some of my scrap mats in there as well 🙂

Gift idea: Christmas Paper Bag Album

Tis the Season, yea! 🙂 I haven’t got my Christmas tree yet, but nevertheless it’s that time of the year again, which means holiday-themed projects for crafters all over the world! Soooo many gorgeous new Christmas collections and I haven’t even bought a single one this year. Not because I don’t want to create anything for Christmas, on the contrary. But since I bought like a gazillion Christmas collections last year, I’m afraid I’ll be not-buying any new Christmas collections the coming years until I’ve used up the ones I already own…. (Right. Like that’s going to happen! But: at least this year it is! 🙂 )

Anyway, here’s a so-called paper bag mini album, the pages of which are basically created from paper bags – and some cardstock. I really love this type of album, for it requires less basic construction than the usual cardstock albums, so you can relatively quickly move on to decorating and embellishing – which, you know, is grrrrreat! 🙂

The paper collection I used is North Country, by Prima Marketing, plus some separate sheets from other collections. I also used this paper line for my Christmas cards this year.

Great gift for a guy: Craftsman Chest

It’s always more difficult to come up with an original gift idea for a man than it is for a woman. I find altering some wooden object a great solution! It’s functional, it has added interest because it usually has some moving parts, like a lid or drawers, and with the right paper you can create quite the masculine project!

Like this little Craftsman Chest here, which by the way has its own little refrigerator magnet as a bonus 🙂 – perfect for hiding one or more giftcards. And, therefore, also perfect to give a present together with other people: they can all put their giftcards into this little chest!

Treasured Memory Keepsake Album DeLuxe

This is probably the largest (or rather bulkiest) and most complex mini album I’ve created so far. My mother asked me to create a beautiful keepsake album in memory of my father, so you can imagine I went all out on this one.

She chose one of the paper lines in my stash, the gorgeous and very fittingly vintage romantic Stationer’s Desk by Prima Marketing.

The show & tell video has turned out rather long, approx. half an hour, so I decided to do a second version, a Fast Forward Edition so to speak, for those of you who just want a quick overview. You find both videos below plus lots of pictures, so take your pick or enjoy both of them 😉

Haul video & paper walkthrough: Stationer’s Desk by Prima

Stationer’s Desk is very vintage, very romantic, perfect for keeping those particularly precious memories. It reminds me somewhat of Romance Novel, one of their older collections. Stationer’s Desk is one of Prima Marketing’s latest however – and I did quite the shopping spree with this one. 🙂

So here’s my haul video – and stay tuned for the large keepsake album I’ve created with this collection, which I’ll post coming July!

Cinch mini album in a box + some of my favorite tools

My first ring-bound mini album, using my brand new Cinch binding tool! I designed a custom-made box around it too, which makes it very nice, tidy and compact, and easy to keep in your bookcase.

The paper is gorgeous by the way (what else is new 🙂 ) – it’s Prima’s Madeline design paper, and I used both the A4 stach and the 6×6 inch pad.

I’m very pleased with the result, but of course I learned a lot too while creating this ringed album: what to do and more importantly, what NOT to do… Just check out the video and see what I mean 😉

In the video I’m also showing you some of the tools I use by the way.

For this album I was partly inspired by Kathy Orta’s build-a-page design,
and also by Ginger from My Sisters Scrapper for the page insert at the back of the mini album.

Prima Romance Novel Altered Treasure Chest, pt. 2 – Completed

Here’s the little treasure chest again (see part 1), the one I altered with paper from Prima, the Romance Novel 6×6 inch (15×15 cm) design paper pad.

The mini tags were an extra challenge, in that I wanted to print text on them instead of writing them by hand. How do you print text on teeny-tiny labels and tags? I can’t say everything went perfect from the start, can’t say there were no misprints either, but: in the end I was able to come up with some pretty awesome mini prints on some pretty tiny mini tags! 🙂 And if you’d like to learn how to do this as well, check out my free tutorial!

I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out, and I really like how it matches my colonial wooden cabinet so perfectly… Plus, I’m especially pleased with how the quilled dandelion turned out – thanks to a tutorial by Inna from Inna’s Creations.

As I mentioned in part 1, I made this box on commission for someone who is going to send it to his lady friend who lives far far away, across many oceans and seas. Of course I sincerely hope that the intended recipient, “R”, really loves this little treasure chest her friend commissioned for her!
