Shopping My Stash: Easter / Spring Tea Wallet Card

This year I sent three Easter cards to friends and family. The first two I already shared in one of my previous posts. This week I’m sharing the third, which is a wallet card, or a tea bag holder card, or whatever other creative descriptive you can come up with šŸ™‚

Also, I shopped my stash again, one of this year’s themes for me personally, in order to actually use up the forgotten-but-beautiful-nonetheless papers in my collection.

It turned out pretty lovely, and of course I filled it up with some fresh tea, as is my way – because I just love to send my friends a Hug-in-a-Mug!

Anyway, here’s the video – ask any questions or leave a remark in the comment section below!

Five Days of Christmas Card Styles – #5: Shutter Cards

On this last day of my Five Days of Christmas Card Styles, I’m sharing the shutter card. This is a simpler variation of the tri-shutter card, of which I’ve made several variations in previous blog posts, here, here, here and here.

I always find any iteration of this shutter type card fun to make, because you can use your 6×6″ papers in endless variations, cutting them to size and combining them continuingly.

For this stack, I used the following materials:

  • Moda Scrap Christmas Holidays 6×6″ pad
  • My Mind’s Eye All is Bright stickersheet
  • Studiolight Shabby Chic Christmas diecut/punch-out sheet
  • several dies and stamps
  • embossing folder
  • Stickles glitter glue
  • other ephemera
  • For the last card also: My Mind’s Eye All is BrightĀ papers and brads

Five Days of Christmas Card Styles – #2: Shabby Chic Layering

Today I’m sharing the second of my Christmas card styles:Ā Shabby Chic Layering!Ā

Materials used:

  • Studio Light Sweet Winter Season paper collection
  • Studio Light Sweet Winter Season diecuts/punch-outs
  • Creator’s Image Studio Vintage Notelet cutapart labels
  • Stickles glitter glue
  • dimensional tape
  • several dies and stamps
  • embossing folder
  • some small ephemera from my stash

Btw, the title in theĀ videoĀ states it’s #3, but it’s not of course. My bad. Just ignore it and blame the Christmas spirit (or something).

You’ve Got Tea Mail!

This week I’m sharing another one of myĀ tea cardĀ ideas. As you may know by now, I love to send my friends a warm and cosy hug-in-a-mug over the mail, for instance when I know they’re coming home from a long and hard road trip, late at night. Nothing says “Go ahead and elax for some Me time” like a glass filled with nice, hot tea you just got from your friend who’s thinking of you.

I try to come up with different designs every time, especially when sending it out to the same person (like my dear friend Christa šŸ™‹šŸ»), and this week it is a pocket card. After all, not everything has to be complex and difficult. Just go for it, keep it simple and decorate to your heart’s desire. Pay attention to the details though, like having the color of your tea bag coordinate with your design papers šŸ™‚

Enjoy the video and pics below! And do leave a comment, I really like to hear from you all.

My Thinking Proces While Decorating a Box (relaxing video)

This week I’m sharing my thinking process while decorating an altered box. Some things are planned, but not everything. Most things work out, but not everything – and how to fix those. All in all I was pretty contented with how this little treasure chest turned out, and my friend was thrilled to receive it šŸ™‚

If you want to know how to mat such a box in the first place, then check out one of my previous blog posts – or simply scroll down and find that video at the end of this post.

With its 25 minutes this week’s video is a bit long, and I’m mostly rambling on about what the next decorative element might be and why, plus I’m including several tips along the way. So get into your Chill Out mode, get a great cup of coffee or tea and a little snack, sit back, and most of all:Ā relaxĀ and let the tone of my voice wash over you. Who knows, if you watch this in bed you may even fall asleep before the end – in which case: Sweet Dreams! šŸ™‚ šŸ’¤

Shabby Chic Tea Card

As you may have noticed, I like to send tea bags over the mail by way of sending someone sort of a ‘warm hug’. I’ve done several of these cards before, and I try to come up with new designs once in a while.

This week is such a time. I designed a way to tuck your customized tea bag envelope onto the front of your card so that it remains easily removable, yet fixed in place.

The papers used areĀ Shabby Chic 6×6″ padĀ byĀ Studiolight,Ā and a sheet from the WonderlandĀ collection byĀ Stamperia.

I hope to have inspired you to send someone such a funĀ hug-in-a-mugĀ yourself after watching this week’s video šŸ™‚

See you next week and let me know what you think!

Vintage Notelet: a Printable Step Card

This week I’m very excited to share Vintage Notelet,Ā my latestĀ patterned paper template.Ā My patterned paper templates are my printable templates from which to create the most intricate of cards with hardly any effort on your side. You do need a color printer of course, and preferably some matte photo paper. You can purchase all of my printables in the Printables section of my shop.

This particular template is based on a step card die by Crealies, who sell internationally, but if this die is no longer available you can also cut and fold a step card yourself, there are plenty of tutorials on the internet.

For this particular step card die, I did a free video tutorial a while back, which I’ll embed at the end of this post for your convenience.

With the printable template comes a cutapart sheet, from which you can fussy-cut your own decorations. It’s fun to find new places for each of them every time you print the template! I created two step cards myself, and did each of them up differently, using only the template and the cutapart sheet! You can see how they each look below.

Enjoy the video(s)!

Scrap with me tutorial #4: Matting

Hello everyone,

As this beautiful summer is slowly preparing itself for the transition into autumn, I’m sharing what will be the last of my series of four video tutorials on basic papercrafting techniques. Today’s topic is matting: how to determine your measurements, taking into account the width of the margins you would like all around. Of course I’m incorporating both centimeters and inches into my explanation, to cater to all of you šŸ™‚ .

In the video I’m also referring to an earlier tutorial of mine, concerning the matting of a wooden box (outside andĀ inside), which I of course also shared on this blog, with that specific video tutorial embedded.

Hopefully all of this is helpful for you – if you still have any questions, let me know by leaving a comment!Ā If you know anyone else who might find this useful, please shareĀ this on your social media.Ā And please like & subscribe to never miss any of my posts again šŸ™‚

Relishing in my fandom of design paper collection kits

Today I thought I’d share a How To video of the most recent of my (very) rare layouts. I’m not your typical mixed media artist (I wish I were, but alas…); instead I’m a design paper collection kit fan girlĀ and I enjoy having everything come together just so, showcasing the colors and materials.

To show you how my creative process works, I cut together a process video for you, which of course I sped up extremely, to bring hours back to minutes. The collection I used wasĀ ButterflyĀ byĀ Prima Marketing,Ā and the layout centers around two shabby chic ballet pictures that I printed from my Ballet Pinterest board. This is what Scrapbooking really is all about šŸ‘ŒšŸ½

So enjoy the video, I hope to inspire you with a different way of working on layouts – namely relishing in your fandom of your design paper collection kits! šŸ™‚

And if you really want to go all out, then give your layout a plain wooden frame and paint & spray ink that in coordinating colors šŸ™‚

Two Types of Shabby Chic Cards

Shabby chic is quite a broad term to describe a style of (usually interior) decoration that is or appears to be pleasingly old and slightly worn. There are various color themes and accompanying atmospheres that go with the term; it is not however what we would call vintage.Ā Below I’m embedding some digital mood boards I found on Pinterest to show you two very different kinds of shabby chic.

Based on these two mood boards I created two shabby chic cards, one to represent each type.Ā So, what type of Shabby chic do you prefer – if any? šŸ™‚

Trifold Surprise Card with Romantique

At first glance this may look like your average layered card, matted on theĀ inside and outsides. It holds a surprise however, for if you untie its little bow on the front, a little tri-fold is revealed, with five cuteĀ panels you can use to stamp or addĀ some sentiments orĀ images, or even to hide a little picture.

I used Romantique papers for this card, a 2010 Prima Marketing collection. Its romantic vintage patterns were so lovely I didn’t really want to cut into them, so I made my card 6 1/8 x 6 1/8″ (15.5 x 15.5 cm)Ā – which turned out to be a beautiful, luxurious size, but note that you will need a larger envelope as well.

So enjoy the video – which this time is with music only šŸ˜‰ – and please click the Like button below! šŸ™‚
